An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a young Wearside man.
Martin James Turnbull, 22, was found dead in his Washington home on Saturday, January 9.
The inquest at Sunderland Civic Centre heard that Mr Turnbull had been found at his home in Waterloo Court, Sulgrave, just before 7pm on that day.
Coroner Derek Winter said the young man had been identified by a friend.
A post-mortem examination has been carried out by pathologist Dr Sidiq Tijani and they are awaiting results of toxicoloy and histology tests.
Mr Winter told the inquest he had reasonable cause to suspect that Mr Turnbull’s death was not the result of natural causes.
The inquest was adjourned until February 24 at 10am for further inquiries to be carried out into the cause of Mr Turnbull’s death.
