VIDEO: Wooden sculptures liven up Sunderland park

WOODEN sculptures have brightened up a Sunderland park.

Youngsters who helped with the design of the new additions to Southwick’s Thompson Park have also been honoured for their achievements.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland Coun. Norma Wright  and Val Sibley with some of the youngsters from Southwick Neighbourhgood Youth Project involved in the design of the new wooden scupltures situated in Thomspon Park on Wednesday.

They were presented with certificates by the Mayor of Sunderland Coun Norma Wright.

City council leader Paul Watson said: “This event is a celebration of what has been achieved at Thompson Park with the help of the community.

“The wood sculptures were designed with the help of schools and young people from Southwick Young People’s Neighbourhood Project, and the environmental charity Groundwork.”
