VIDEO: Tiny premature lamb born at farm

SHE might seem like any other little lamb now, but when Tinker Bell arrived she weighed just 2lbs.

Born 10 days prematurely, she has been dubbed the “world’s smallest lamb”.

Tinker Bell is a Ouessant breed, the smallest in the world, which makes owner Janine Calzini think she might be the world’s smallest.

Poorly at birth, she is now well, after being looked after by Janine and her staff at Adventure Valley farm and visitor attraction in Brasside, Durham City.

“We have four Ouessant ewes,” said Janine. “Tinker Bell was born two weeks prematurely and was very weak.

“Because she was born early her mum wasn’t ready to give her any milk.

“We called the vet in straight away who gave her a booster, and with a lot of love and care from the staff here, we have nursed Tinker Bell back to health.

“She still only weighs 4lbs and is only about 30cm tall.”

Adult Ouessant sheep stand about 50cm tall, compared to most breeds which are between 60cm and 90cm.

They are named after the French island of Ouessant, off Britany.
