A man has been found dead at a house in Washington.
Emergency services were called out to an address in Whitbourne Close, in the Usworth Hall area, after being called shortly before 6pm on Sunday.
There, the body of a 64-year-old man was found.
The death is currently being treated as “unexplained”, with a report set to be prepared for Sunderland’s coroner.
Neighbours told the Echo that after police and an undertaker arrived, they saw a body being taken out of the house.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “At 6.26pm on Sunday, June 14, police received a report of concern for a resident at an address in Whitbourne Close, Washington.
“Emergency services attended and the body of a 64-year-old man was found.
“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and officers are making inquiries. “The circumstances of the death are for the coroner to establish.”
