Two in hospital after suspected arson attack on Sunderland home

A MAN and woman were treated for smoke inhalation after a house was set alight in a suspected arson attack.

The blaze struck at 10.30pm yesterday in Hendon Burn Avenue, Hendon.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service attended and put the fire out.

Two people, a man and woman, were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Fire investigators attended and believe the fire was started by an accelerant and was started deliberately.

The fire is being treated as arson and police carrying out inquiries.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
