TWO schoolchildren were injured after they were knocked down on the same road within the space of 20 minutes.
The first accident happened outside the Kestrel convenience store in Station Road, Seaham, at 5.55pm yesterday when a 13-year-old girl collided with a Nissan Mirca.
The girl’s father arrived at the scene within minutes and she was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital by ambulance suffering from a suspected broken foot.
In the second incident, a boy of around the same age was knocked from his bike by a blue Rover car at 6.15pm.
An off-duty police officer was among the first on the scene and told colleagues the victim had minor injuries including a grazed knee.
Traffic officers were sent to the street to clear the scenes and divert traffic.
