YOUNG actor Jacques McEvoy is enjoying his new found fame aftermaking his small screen debut.
Jacques, pictured, is following his acting dream after fighting off fierce competition from thousands of young hopefuls auditioning for a part in children’s show Tracy Beaker Returns.
The 14-year-old managed to land the role of a bad lad, who was last night seen starting a fight in the popular TV series.
And the excitement, which peaked yesterday, had been mounting in the McEvoy household all week as Jacques’ face hit the small screen in the adverts for yesterday’s show
Proud mum Suzanne said: “Jacques’ five-year-old brother Charlie came running in the other day screaming “Jacques is on TV”.
“He’d switched the TV on and seen an advert and was so excited that he had to come through and tell us.
“We’re all so excited and me and his dad are both so proud of him.”
The Belmont Community School pupil, in Durham City, auditioned last year before spending several days in front of the camera shooting the show in Newcastle over the summer.
“He’s only in one episode but he’s hoping to get asked back,” Suzanne said.
“He thoroughly enjoyed it and he would love to go into acting. It’s always been a bit of a dream of his and he’s done some stuff on stage before.
“When he was in junior school, he used to do a few solo parts.
“In Tracy Beaker he plays one of the bad boys and starts a fight with someone and steals their bag.”
