PROPOSALS have been drawn up to build a new wind turbine on Wearside.
Developers Pegasus Group say they want to construct the 500kw generator, which could be up to 87metres high, in a field off Elemore Lane, near Easington Lane.
The firm says the structure could last for up to 25 years once completed, but has added that the environment of the area could be affected if it is given the green light.
A screening application has been submitted to Sunderland City Council.
The application on the authority’s website reads: “Given that the location of the site is not within any sensitive location and the benign nature of the development proposal, coupled with the turbine location as an area of undesignated farmland, it is considered that whilst there will be some effects upon the environment as a consequence of the scheme, none of these are considered to constitute significant effects as set out in Government guidance.”
