COURSES are being launched to give people something new to try.
Tai chi for Beginners is an 11-week course where people will learn and experience the gentle, flowing movements of tai chi and treat their whole body to a relaxing workout.
No experience of tai chi is necessary to go on the course, which starts on Tuesday, from 10am to noon at Houghton Library, in Newbottle Street.
Also starting at the library will be Creative Writing for Beginners, a six-week course to share writing and gain feedback, develop skills and ideas.

Family History for Beginners is an 11-week course to give people an introduction to researching their family history, using a variety of resources.
It will be held at Ryhope Library, in Black Road, and starts on Tuesday, May 8, from 1pm to 3pm.
