TRIBUTES have been paid to a mother who touched the hearts of many after being made homeless days after being told she had weeks to live.
Dawn Milburn, of Annand Road, Durham City, was inundated with offers for help after her plight was in the Echo.
But the 28-year-old, the victim of a house fire, was able to move back into her Gilesgate home, where she died on June 13 after being diagnosed with cancer.
Her mother Terry Milburn said: “Dawn fought right to the bitter end and was very brave. She put her children before anything else.
“Dawn said if she could prove to one person that no matter what they tell you, you don’t have to believe it.”
She added: “She had the cancer, she had one leg and she was looking after four children. She said that if she can do it, anyone can.”
