Tributes paid to dad who died after car crash

TRIBUTES have been paid to a pensioner who died after he suffered multiple injuries in a car crash.

 Brian Pattinson was driving a Peugeot 205 west on the B6302 Broom Lane between Neville’s Cross and Ushaw Moor in Durham when it was involved in collision with a VW Bora travelling in the opposite direction on Tuesday.

 Mr Pattinson, 72, was cut free by firefighters and airlifted by the Great North Air Ambulance to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary suffering from serious head and leg injuries, but died in the early hours of yesterday.

 His daughter Kelly, on behalf herself and her brothers John and Sean, paid tribute to their dad.

 She said: “Dad was much loved by all his family and we are devastated that he has been taken from us in this way. He will be greatly missed.”

 Mr Pattinson was grandfather to Evan, 17, Caitlin, 15, Owen, 14, and Tony, eight.

 He lived most of his life in New Brancepeth but had recently moved to Oswald Court in Durham city centre.
