AN elderly woman has been rushed to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car on a busy Sunderland road.
Police and paramedics were called to Chester Road, near Sunderland University’s Murray Library, at 4.45pm today after reports of a collision between a car and an elderly woman.
Paramedics attended the scene and the woman was rushed to Sunderland Royal Hospital, with a suspected broken leg.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “The police and ambulance service received reports of a collision between a car and an elderly woman on Chester Road in Sunderland.
“It happened this afternoon around 4.45pm.
“The woman has been taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.”
