Motorists on Sunderland seafront face weeks of delays as sewerage work gets under way next month.
Northumbrian Water is laying 95metres of new pipeline in Whitburn Bents Road.
The £340,000 scheme to reduce the risk of flooding around the Paradise Gardens restaurant starts on Monday, October 5, and will take around eight weeks, though motorists will not be affected for the entire period.
“We will have a temporary road closure of the northbound carriageway, so the parking bays opposite will be closed to allow for two-way traffic,” said a Northumbrian Water spokeswoman.
“Traffic management will begin on October 12 and is expected to be in place for up to six weeks.
