Child on motorbike may have been hurt in Sunderland hit and run

POLICE are looking for information after a hit and run collision in Sunderland that may have left a child injured.

It happened at 5.20pm on Saturday, March 28, when a man riding a green scrambler motorbike collided with a white Vauxhall Astra in Rawmarsh Road, Redhouse.

The Astra was parked outside of the Coral bookmakers at the time of the incident.

The man left the area and failed to exchange details with the driver of the Astra and police want to identify and speak to the him.

The motorbike rider is described as being white, around 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build and in his early 30s. He had ginger hair and was wearing a yellow high viz helmet and green hooded top.

He had a young child with him on the bike at the time of the collision and police believe the child may have been injured. It is thought the child is around two to three years old and may be called Ruben.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information into the collision or the identity of the rider and child to contact them as officers want to check on the child’s welfare.
