AFTER seven hard weeks of intense training, Jackie Callen feels like a new woman.
The mum-of-two has thrown herself into the 12- week personal training plan given to her by Fitness Bank instructor Mark Banks and she is really feeling the benefit.
“I’m a size 10 already,” she said. “I was a size 14 when I started, so my clothes are just dropping off me. I’m so pleased and proud of myself.
“Mark works me hard and I’m really strict with myself, but I enjoy the training and eating properly, I feel like I have so much more energy.
“I’m just sprightly all the time.”
Jackie, from Chapelgarth, Sunderland, entered our competition for the chance to shape up with the Fitness Bank Gym, because she wanted to look her best for son Adam’s wedding in July.
So far, she looks set to achieve that goal and she has noticed that it’s not just her clothes which are shrinking in size.
She said: “My aim was to get rid of my belly and I’ve definitely noticed that the tyre round my waist has gone down.
“I’ve bought my outfit for the wedding in a size 10 and it fits perfectly. I’m so pleased.
“My family didn’t really take much notice at first, as I’m always trying new diets but now they are really seeing a difference and they can tell I’m doing well and sticking to it.”
As well as stepping into the gym twice a week for one-on-one sessions with Mark, Jackie also attends boot camps and goes jogging on an evening.
The 47-year-old, who works at Sunderland Civic Centre, still has five weeks of training left to do. She said: “I can’t wait for my final results. If I feel this good and I’m only halfway through, the measurements could be really exciting.
“I’ve been doing a lot of resistance training and cardio recently which I enjoy. To be honest I like all of it because I’m getting fitter and it’s not as much of a struggle.
“I’m finding running a lot easier. I did a four-mile run the other day and I hardly stopped. Before I would be stopping and starting all the time.
“The training and diet has made such a big difference to my life and I intend to stick to it.”
She added: “I’ve cut sweet things, unhealthy snacks and alcohol out of my life and I actually haven’t missed any of it.
“I don’t want to go back to the way I was so I intend to keep it up even after my training has finished.”
l We will be catching up with Jackie in two weeks’ time.
