the Salvation Army is looking to help those out of work or training on Wearside.

The Southwick branch of the organisation, in Shakespeare Street, has been delivering education and training to the Sunderland community since 2003, with the programme initially a franchise of Sunderland College.

Additional courses have been funded by other organisations.

John Clasper, of the Salvation Army, said: “At the moment we now have four parts to our programme that are here to support young people in Sunderland.

“All four options are supported by qualified tutors and support staff and are delivered in bright, modern training rooms.

“Most options provide the young people with some form of income, whether that is a college bursary, or an attendance allowance, based upon personal circumstances.”

For more contact Mr Clasper on 561 8273 or meet him at the Connexions office, in Fawcett Street, next Tuesday and Wednesday between 11am and 2pm.
