Train was bricked

Have your say

BRICK-THROWING yobs put a train out of action.

It happened as the Northern Rail service left Seaham station for Hexham, and passed through a wooded area and over the level crossing at Hall Dene, Lord Byron’s Walk.

The driver’s front cabin window cracked during the attack, causing the train to be taken out of service when it reached Newcastle.

Pc Nick Jones, of British Transport Police, said: “This type of behaviour is extremely dangerous, as any object thrown at a train has the potential to become a lethal weapon due to the speeds involved.”
