A MUM who saw her son killed in a motorbike crash was already reeling from a vicious doorstep attack.
Carol Gordon was in the street in Pallion, Sunderland, last week when her son Michael was killed.
The tragedy was the latest in a string of events devastated Carol has had to cope with.
Carol, who suffered a stroke at the end of last year, was the victim of an attack in her own home when Jeffrey Davison, 49, turned up on her doorstep with a knife and grabbed her by the throat.
Davison, previously of Caspian Road, Hylton Castle, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and drink driving at Durham Crown Court last week.
He was given a nine month suspended prison sentence for the assault and six months for carrying a knife, both for two years.
Carol, who claims she never had a relationship with Davison, said: “It’s wrong that he walked away from this. I thought they were supposed to be cracking down on knives.
“He turned up on my doorstep and said he was going to kill me and cut me up. It was terrifying.”
