THOUSANDS looked to the sky as a spectacular fireworks display marked the beginning of Bonfire Night celebrations.
Organisers of the event at Seaham say last night’s show attracted a crowd of 8,000 people – 1,000 more than last year.
The evening included a light show and live music from Crows, a band which has risen through the Seaham Rock Bands club.
The grand finale fireworks display was launched at 7pm to the sounds of classical and philharmonic rock tracks, with quiz fans challenged to name each tune.
Paul Fletcher, deputy town clerk of Seaham Town Council, which set up the event, said: “The fireworks and light show were a huge success, even though there was relentless rain, lightning and thunderstorms at the beginning of the event.”
The fireworks were set off by Mayor Barbara Ramshaw.
