PETERLEE Leisure Centre has been awarded top marks after a two-day quality assessment in June.
The Quest scheme is the industry kite mark for measuring quality within sports and leisure centres.
Following the assessment, the leisure centre was awarded the category of excellent, the highest mark that can be given.
Malcolm Grinstead, contract manager at the leisure centre, said: “The result is a testimony to the great team at Peterlee and reflects a journey that started in 2003 when Leisure Connection first took over the management of the centre.
“The Quest process is all about continuous improvement and our assessment scores have increased every two years.
“The centre will now work on the improvement plan and the team is striving to provide an improved service for local people.”
