The Sunderland Airshow was a soaring success with more than one million people taking to the seafront over the weekend. With a fantastic plane display, plenty of activities and entertainment, here are the top five things we loved about the city’s 27th airshow.
The Red Arrows
One of the star attractions in the Sunderland Airshow are the Red Arrows. To see them in action watch them live here.
Friday’s fireworks display
The Sunderland Airshow landed with a bang! Friday night saw crowds flock to Seaburn for music, stalls, take part in interactive activities, as well as a firework display to end the night ahead of the all-day event on Saturday and Sunday. Watch Friday’s spectacular night here.
The Armed Forces
As well as flying entertainment, there was also plenty of activities to see and do on the ground. Our favourite were the selection of military planes and vehicles we could sit in, as well as a variety of guns we could have a go of.
The crowds that attended
Sunderland has welcomed almost one million visitors over the course of the weekend. The 27th Sunderland Airshow saw crowds gather along the seafront for both air and ground entertainment. Organisers say the event is getting more popular year-on-year.
