CARTOON characters Tom and Jerry handed out leaflets to promote a musical show at Durham’s Gala Theatre.

However, the characters don’t appear in Some Enchanted Evenings, which is a tribute to the film and stage music of Richard Rodgers.

Cartoon characters Tom and Jerry were at the Gala Theatre, Durham to promote Durham Musical Theatre Company's show Some Enchanted Evening, which will be at the theatre from 20th to 22nd June. Pictured keeping the best of enemies apart is Charlie Pink (5) of Sunderland.

Amy Pink, from Plains Farm, of Pink’s Party Animals, explained: “I know Tom and Jerry are nothing to do with the show, but my daughter is in it, and I heard they are going to have a collection each night for St Cuthbert’s hospice in Durham City.

“I like to help any charities I can, so I decided to bring the characters down to Durham to help promote ticket sales.

“I’m sure it will be a good show, and there will be a chance to contribute to a worthwhile cause.”

Some Enchanted Evenings, staged by Durham Musical Theatre Company, opens at the Gala on June 20 for three days.
