Hundreds of children across Sunderland got the chance to enjoy a sleepover at the city’s museums and arts venues.

As part of a national weekend of activities and events promoting museums, Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens was the bedroom for the city’s young people on Friday night.

The fun continues tonight with a ‘War Games’ Family Night which includes First World War exhibitions, interactive activities, competitions and historic re-enactments from the ‘Time Bandits’ drama group.

The ‘Night in the Museum’ also links in with the last performance of the National Theatre’s award-winning production of ‘War Horse’ which made its North East debut at the Sunderland Empire .
