UP to 8,000 homes will be hit by a shake-up to waste and recycling collections in Sunderland.
Households in the east and west of the city will see changes to their collection days next week.
The changes will affect some streets in the Barnes, Doxford, Millfield, Pallion, Ryhope, Silksworth, St Anne’s, St Chad’s and St Michael’s wards.
Councillor James Blackburn, portfolio holder for city services, said: “We have been looking at all our refuse and recycling collections to make sure that imbalances in the rounds are corrected.
“This is so that we use our vehicles more efficiently with better route planning and get more value for money for city taxpayers.”
There will be no changes to the way the waste is collected, only the days it is collected on.
Households will have their recycling collected on the same day as their waste and the week will not change either.
A letter will be sent to residents whose collection day is changing.
