Onesie wearers beware - you could be caught on camera out and about in the city!

A new Facebook page, Sunderland in Pyjamas, has been set up urging residents to take photos of people walking the streets in their nightwear.

And despite only been going for a week, the page already has more than 2,000 followers eager to see who is out and about in their jim jams.

So far, it shows people shopping, picking children up from school and even someone in a restaurant wearing their pyjamas.

Sonny Duggan, who set up the page, said the whole thing is in good fun and not aimed at shaming or embarrassing anyone.

The 44-year-old chef, who lives in Trinity Square, said: “With living in Hendon, I found on a Sunday that a lot of people don’t get dressed. You just see people walking about all over in their pyjamas.

It is all good fun... I just thought it would cheer people up.

“People can be seen going to the shops at any time of the day in their pyjamas.

“I just thought it would be a good idea to set up the page and get people sending me photos of others in their pyjamas.”

The dad-of-four admits he has been amazed at the response to the page and says lots of family and friends are sending pictures from all over the city.

He added: “My phone never stops alerting me to new photos for the page, people really seem to be enjoying it.

“It is all good fun. There are so many horrible things being shown online that I just thought it would cheer people up.

“Anyone who is embarrassed just has to inbox me and I will remove the picture, it’s not about upsetting anyone, it is just for a laugh.”

A number of people have already commented on the Facebook site and the photographs, including Cris Watson Hope, who wrote: “I love this page, I will definitely have my camera at the ready lol.”

Christine Lee wrote: “I love it. Its a good laugh but I’ll think twice before I run to the shop in me PJs again.”

Sonny’s latest post to the site says: “Enjoy your weekend folks and beware if your popping to the shops in your jarmas... next photo could be you!”
