COULD one of these women be the next Miss Great Britain?
Eighteen girls from across the region will be battling it out tonight in a bid to be crowned Miss Sunderland.
The Alice in Wonderland-themed pageant will see the wannabe beauty queens strut their stuff at The Pullman in Seaburn in a bid to impress judges which include Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne and ex Steps singer Faye Tozer, who now lives in Boldon.
Rounds will include swimwear and eveningwear.
Faye, who moved to Sunderland after marrying Mackem Michael Smith, said: “I’m very proud and excited to be judging and supporting Miss Sunderland 2014 – not only to help raise a positive profile for the North East, but to also showcase the artistic talent and high standard of the beauty industry here.
“The competitors will have to be inspirational and confident.
“They will also have to prove that they’re ready to be the face and voice of this region.”
The event is one of two Miss Sunderlands being held in the city this year. This one gives the winner entry to Miss Great Britain.
Tonight’s winner will also receive a modelling contract with Headline Models Ltd, teeth whitening from Oliver’s Dental Studio and a model portfolio from David Lawson, while they will also be an official ambassador of charity Cash for Kids.
