REALITY of life in the First World War trenches will be explored during a talk at the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery.
Author and historian Peter Hart will draw on the experiences of soldiers from Durham and Northumberland to consider living conditions and day-to-day fighting on the Western Front.
Peter, who has been oral historian at the Imperial War Museum’s Sound Archive for more than 30 years, will use interviews he recorded with veterans during the 1980s.
The talk starts at 2pm on Saturday. Normal museum charges apply.
Tickets can be booked in advance or purchased on the day.
Visitors are advised to use the Park and Ride, due to road closures around the city for the Olympic Torch Relay.
