THE man key to bringing global superstars like Take That and Oasis to the Stadium of Lighthas been given a spot on the club’s board.
Gary Hutchinson has been appointed to the clubs’ board of directors, taking up the position of commercial director.
Gary has proved himself while heading up the club’s venue, events and sales divisions in recent years, leading the team that established the Stadium of Light as a major live music venue in just three years.
He has also been instrumental in developing the club’s relationships with organisations, including Sunderland City Council and the University of Sunderland, along with companies including Nissan, Gentoo, Nexus and Caterpillar.
As chairman of the North East Chamber of Commerce’s Sunderland committee, he is also a well-known and respected figure in the city.
Gary, 31, has also been responsible for setting up 1879 Events Ltd, the club’s external event management company.
His new role will see Gary continue to oversee the club’s sales and events divisions, as well as spearhead business partnerships and strategies with key regional stake-holders.
