Sunderland has come out in favour of leaving the EU after losing its crown as the first to declare.
A total of 82,394 Wearsiders voted to leave the EU in the referendum, 61% of the 134,400 votes cast.
Remain voters polled 51,930 - 39%. Sunderland was expected to come out in favour of Leave.
Usually the first to declare, Sunderland was behind Gibraltar, Newcastle and Orkney in the declarations.
The Newcastle result will be more worrying for Remain campaigners. The city voted marginally in favour of Remain, but not by the level expected: 65,404 voted to stay in the EU, 63,598 to leave.
