A SUNDERLAND lorry driver has been released on bail as inquiries into a crash which killed a schoolgirl continues.
The four-year-old, who has not yet been named, died in the M6 pile-up near Birmingham at 12.30am on Sunday.
A 63-year-old from Sunderland, who was driving the truck involved in the collision with four cars, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The man, who was not injured in the accident, has been released on bail after he was questioned by West Midlands Police.
Another four-year-old girl, an eight-year-old girl, a man and a woman, who had been travelling in the in the same car as the girl who died, were also injured in the incident.
