Sunderland train death man named

A MAN struck by a train in Sunderland has been named.

Marc Paul Goodings, 40, of Rachel Close in Ryhope, died on Wednesday afternoon after he was hit by a Grand Central service bound for London’s Kings Cross.

The tragedy happened at 12.55pm as the train travelled by Ryhope.

An investigation is being carried out by British Transport Police, who have confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

Train services were stopped while inquiries were carried out. A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today.

An inquest is likely to be opened and closed in the coming days by the coroner. as reports and investigations are completed.
