TEEN dancer Jessica Rump is jumping for joy after winning a place at a top college.

The 18-year-old from Grindon Lane has already appeared in hit shows at the Sunderland Empire, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, starring ex-Blue Peter host Matt Baker.

Now the former pupil at Thornhill School, who has been performing since she was three, has won a place at Leicester College of Performing Arts.

“I can just always remember growing up as a dancer and having dance in my life from a young age,” she said.

“I practise inside and out of my dancing school – whenever and wherever I had the time to teach myself the discipline of the steps and skills.”

However, the three-year dance, drama and singing course is privately funded and costs £8,000, and Jessica has embarked on fund-raising drive to cover the fees.

“My mum and dad are trying to support me the best they can,” she said.

“However, my mum only works part time and my dad was made redundant last year. It’s going to be a struggle.”
