Students at a city secondary school got the chance to talk politics with their MP.
Bridget Phillipson, MP for Houghton and Sunderland South, went along to Kepier Academy to meet with the young people.
Dave Brennan, marketing manager at the Dairy Lane school, said the visit was organised after the a group of students wrote to Ms Phillipson raising their concerns about the current situation in Syria.
Teacher Steven Forsyth, said: “I was delighted that Bridget took time out from her busy schedule to come to Kepier and chat with our learners. They asked some really pertinent questions, demonstrating that the assumption that young people have little or no interest in politics is far removed from the truth.”
