BLACK Cats stars will be swapping the pitch for the frying pan for a “hellish” experience.

John O’Shea, Phil Bardsley and Adam Johnson will be put through their culinary paces by Hells Kitchen star Marco Pierre White.

The gastronomic guru is returning to the Stadium of Light for another instalment of Marco’s Black Cats Kitchen.

Last year’s successful event saw the chef host an evening of cooking and entertainment at the home of Sunderland AFC, where he was joined by the Black Cats stars, who prepared a three-course meal for the audience.

As part of the evening, each player will be cooking a different course, featuring regionally-sourced produce.

Guests will enjoy the feast, prepared under the Michelin-starred chef’s watchful eye, and then vote for their favourite course. Marco will also lead a question and answer session with the players.

Phil Bardsley, who joined Marco in the kitchen at the previous event, said: “It was a fantastic experience to cook with a chef of the calibre of Marco.

“He was a tough taskmaster, but the event was great fun, and I’m really looking forward to doing it all over again.”

Marco Pierre White said: “I am looking forward to coming back to Sunderland for this and seeing how the players handle the heat of a kitchen service.”

He added: “We’ll see if they are as nimble behind the stove as they are on the pitch.”

SAFC’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “Marco is widely regarded as one of the greatest chefs for his generation, and anyone who attended the last Black Cats Kitchen will testify to what a great entertainer he is too.”

l Tickets for the event on Wednesday, February 27, are priced from £100 per person and available by calling 0871 911 1500, or email conf&banq@safc.com.
