SPEED junkies hit the track at The Bridges.

ModelZone store held a radio control event in the Sunderland shopping centre’s main square, as young and old raced vehicles on a large fun-sized track.

Hundreds of excited youngsters hurled the vehicles around the specially-designed course.

A Red Bull RB7 Sebastian Vettel radio control car, based on the German F1 World Champion’s own vehicle, was also up for grabs as a free prize draw was held.

Jordan Smith, sales assistant at ModelZone, said: “We’ve had a lot of families involved and they’ve all really enjoyed it.

“People young and old have been having a go at making the cars jump off ramps and other things.”

“We’ve run out of forms for the raffle it’s been that popular. It’s been such a fun time for everyone.”

The winner of the car raffle will be notified before the end of the month.
