IT wasn’t all plain sailing at the annual Roker Regatta as competitors and spectators battled with the weather.
Sunderland Yacht Club celebrated its 100th anniversary with three days of racing.
Nine yachts took part in six races with Carmen Maria and No Limit winning each of the classes.
Chairman of the regatta committee Kristina Jameson said: “Overall the regatta was a great success despite the terrible weather we experienced during the event.”
It wasn’t just members of Sunderland Yacht Club that participated on the day.
Kristina continued: “It was enjoyed by competitors both from our club and those that travelled from Hartlepool and Blyth.
“The committee and members were all very pleased to be able to host the Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland, councillors Iain Kay and Barbara McClennan, who presented the prizes to the winning crews.”
The previous weekend, the club hosted a dinghy element of the regatta, with 16 dinghies taking part in the main event and a further five taking part in a youngsters’ beginners race.
