Sunderland’s mayor is back at work after taking ill at a weekend event.
Councillor Barry Curran became unwell during the 111 Sunderland Squadon’s Rememberance Parade at the city’s war memorial on Sunday.
An ambulance was called after the incident, and Coun Curran was tended to by paramedics.
A spokesman for the city council said Coun Curran is now fine and was back on civic duties yesterday.
Glen Purves, 24, of Gateshead, was one of those at the event with girlfriend Amy Rosendale, 30.
“The mayor did his speech but it was cut short and after that he stood back,” said Mr Purves.
“Then he fell over onto the base of the war memorial.
“The ambulance came and picked him up quite quickly.
“I think he just got a bit hot in his ceremonial dress because it was a warm day.”
