CONCERT leaders have pledged to make an annual memorial event extra special as it helps mark a milestone anniversary.
Sunderland’s annual Concert of Remembrance will be packed with music and military tributes when it is hosted at the Seaburn Centre on Saturday, November 8.
Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Stuart Porthouse, said: “This is a significant year in which we commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
“Our remembrance concert is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the many sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.”
Starting at 7pm, the evening will feature the Cassino Band of Northumbria Army Cadet Force, East Herrington Primary School Choir, Shiney Row Male Voice Choir, The Shoeshop Quartet, a march from Her Majesty’s Forces, the Standards of The Royal British Legion and the emergency services.
The concert will be followed the next day with a parade.
Tickets are £6 each from The Bridges’s customer service desk, or the Customer Service Centre in Fawcett Street, and www.sunderlandlive.co.uk.
