FUND-RAISERS flocked together to help poorly youngsters at a charity event.

Staff and punters at the Round Robin pub, Hylton Road, had a fun-filled day making money for the Little Heroes children’s cancer charity.

More than 100 people turned out to support manageress Barbara Ross and barmaid Marie Grant in raising £1,643 for the good cause.

“We are very grateful to everyone who joined in,” said Barbara, who took over running the pub in May. “People said they had the best day, the atmosphere was fantastic.”

Those who attended on Saturday, November 9, took part in sponsored back waxing which raised more than £200, face painting, and the day was topped off with a firewalk.

Barbara said she is hoping it will be the first of many such events: “This pub hasn’t got the best reputation, but I want to change that.

“The fun day went really well, and if people want to have more for different charities then we will.”
