HAIR today, gone tomorrow.
After an adult lifetime of perfected preening, Bijumen Joseph has shaved off his moustache.
The 39-year-old, who has had his ‘tache for as long as he can remember, agreed to rid himself of his facial hair to raise money to help the dementia patients he cares for.
And yesterday, the department manager at Falstone Court and Manor Care Home, took part in the sponsored shave, raising more than £1,000 towards a new sensory room at the Roker home.
He said: “It feels strange because I’ve had the moustache since I was young and I like it. It will take a bit of getting used to.
“So far, all of the staff, residents and their families think it looks better and that I should keep it.
“My wife keeps laughing.”
A big crowd of people turned out to watch Bijumen’s hair-raising fund-raiser, with staff and residents having a go at ridding him of his facial hair.
He said: “I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored and supported me.”
