The company behind some of the biggest events in the region is thrilled to be backing this year’s Best of Wearside Awards.

Sunderland Live has got on board with the annual awards to be the official sponsor of the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ category.

Alison Mcdonough, Chief Executive, Sunderland Live said it was a privilege to be involved.

She added: “As the company behind some of the biggest and best loved events in the North East, Sunderland Live is thrilled to be supporting the Best of Wearside Awards. 
“Ranging from local Easter event ‘Penshaw Bowl’ to the landmark three day event ‘Sunderland International Airshow’, Sunderland Live prides itself on offering a vast range of activities that engage with event goers of all ages and interests.

“During our event delivery we benefit greatly from the skills of a range of volunteers and are currently looking to develop our volunteer programme further. 
“With this in mind, we are privileged to be the official sponsor of ‘Volunteer of the Year’ and wish all nominees the best of luck and a fantastic evening of celebration.”

Now comes the search for this year’s champions.

The Best of Wearside Awards 2016 are under way and sponsors are Calsonic Kansei, Gentoo, Vantec, Station Taxis, TWR, and Sunderland Live.

This year’s categories are; Green Champion; Student of the Year; Fundraiser of the Year; Volunteer of the Year; Sporting Achievement; Community Group; Community Champion; Local Hero; Child of Achievement; and Child of Courage.

To nominate, just send your name, address and telephone number, as well as your email address, if applicable.

Remember to include the category you are putting your nominated cause into.

Send the name of the person you wish to nominate, along with their address, telephone number and email, to Lynn Wild by 5pm on Friday, December 30.
