CHILDREN rolled up their sleeves to take part in a pirate-themed charity car wash.
Children from Just Learning Nursery, in Doxford Park, donned pirate fancy dress and picked up sponges for the event to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Lisa Bloxham, supervisory nursery nurse, said: “The kids have been learning about pirates at nursery, so that’s why we thought it would be a nice idea to let them dress up.
“The kids love water play in general,” added Lisa. “So with water play and pirates put together, they had a really great time.”
The nursery has plans for more charity events in a bid to raise £40,000 with other Just Learning nurseries.
Lisa said: “We’re going to be doing other things to raise money for the children’s charity.
“We’ve got a teddy bear’s picnic coming up as well.
“We raised money for them last year and this year we thought we would do the same again.
“It’s such a good cause.”
