HOTEL bosses are planning to showcase their new look and exciting food range when they host our What’s On Where Awards.

The awards are held in association with our weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7, and aim to reward the elite in everything from restaurants to children’s venues, takeaways to parks and community areas, and hotels to the best shopping experience.

We will be revealing the winners on February 26 in a glittering finale at The Best Western Roker Hotel which is well on the way to completing an extensive refurbishment which includes an exciting Italian feel to the food.

Hotel chiefs say the finals will be held not long after the latest stage of a revamp should be complete.

The cuisine side of the hotel includes a contemporary tea room-style venue called Lets Be Crumbs, and the Italian Farmhouse restaurant.

It has its own pizza oven and there is an in-house bakery. Our awards will be held in the hotel’s grand room which has been refurbished to include six chandeliers and LED lighting, and the nearby Pier Lounge.

Marketing manager Grace Noon said: “This is a huge event for the area. It is supporting the hospitality and leisure side of Sunderland and we are massively honoured to have an event like this at the Roker Hotel, and to have our new proposition showcased there. It is great exposure for ourselves and a fantastic event for Sunderland.”

Events manager Helena Ganley said: “I am really looking forward to it. We are offering a completely new look for the hotel, different menus, different occasions, so we are going to use your event to showcase all of our new menus and we are really excited for you to give us some feedback hopefully.”

All we need now is to attract a top-class list of contenders to match the first-class venue for the awards.
