A fast-growing cleaning company has double reason to show an interest in this year’s Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards.

Maxim Facilities Management has been nominated for the overall business of the year category in the competition.

And the Sunderland-based firm which employs 500 people from Southampton to Sterling is also a sponsor of the awards.

The nomination which came in for the company told of its achievements within the last year.

They include a growth in turnover from £2.8m to over £4.5m, three senior key appointments to the management team and an increase in the workforce.

It has also established its first office outside of the region in Glasgow, and enjoys outstanding customer satisfaction ratings, with 97 per cent of clients rating the service as good or excellent.

The firm also prides itself on identifying career development opportunities for its workers and is involved in funded training to help their personal development.

Maxim has also introduced employee awards to recognise dedication, hard work and commitment to customer service and for being supportive to fellow colleagues.

Bosses were keen to be involved in the awards as a way of raising the company profile and also recognising the hard work of the staff that have helped the firm to grow.

There has already been a great selection of candidates for this year’s competition.

And there is still time for more to come forward before the deadline which arrives at the end of August.

Make it Sunderland is again our headline sponsor, and will sponsor our overall Business of the Year Award, as well as a Lifetime Achievement award, which is in the sponsor’s gift.

This year sees a new category, also sponsored by Make It Sunderland, which will recognise the contribution social enterprises make to the city. Sponsors are Gentoo, Stagecoach, Andrew James, Station Taxis, TTR Barnes, Thompson Waste, Sunderland BID and Maxim Facilities Management Ltd, while Sunderland College is our partner sponsor.
