MEN on Wearside are being urged to get clean shaven ahead of this year’s Movember challenge.

City salon Reds Hair and Beauty, in East Herrington, is hosting The Big Shave Off this Monday and male Echo readers can get involved.

On November 1, men can register at www.movember.com - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW - with a clean-shaven face and then go without putting a razor to their top lip for the rest of the month.

“Mo Bros” as they are known, then become walking advertisements for the campaign, which it’s hoped will highlight the issue of prostate cancer.

They can then raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Charity throughout November.

The first 10 readers who book a shave will get it free of charge.

Reds’ owner Harry Hall said: “It’s the sort of charity that I think needs more publicity.

“Prostate cancer is not the easiest thing to talk about so we’ve come up with a great fun way of raising awareness.

“It fits in perfectly because my son Marshall came up with the idea of offering traditional men’s shaving at the salon.

“More and more men are starting to pay attention to their grooming.”
