HERE is a glimpse of the route daredevils will follow as they overcome their fear in honour of charities.
Up to 400 people will be given the opportunity to leap from the roof of the Stadium of Light and across the River Wear to the Liebherr Cranes site on the opposite bank as part of Zip Wear.
The 250metre challenge will see them travel at 25mph, with April’s event the third year it will be held.
Cash raised will be split between the Foundation of Light and the North East Autism Society.
The event will be hosted by the foundation, Sunderland AFC’s official charity.
Previous events have raised more than £25,000 to help fund the charity’s work to involve, educate and inspire more than 42,000 young people across the region each year.
Katrina Quinn, events co-ordinator at the stadium, said: “Zip Wear is one of the Foundation of Light’s most popular fund-raising events, with people queuing up to go zipping across the river. Places are limited, though, so I’d advise everyone to sign up early.”
Registration for Zip Wear 2014 costs £20 if participants can pledge to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.
Alternatively, a place can be bought outright at a cost of £120.
