A CURRY house chef has created a new dish inspired by his beloved Black Cats’ trip to Wembley.

Ahmed Bashir, owner of Naz Haven in Fence Houses, is serving up a special red and white dish of chicken tikka masala and boiled rice, but calling it Mackem Masala.

Mr Bashir hopes the meal will appeal to customers attending a football-themed charity night at the Front Street restaurant on Friday, in aid of Grace House North East Children’s Hospice based in Southwick.

Mr Bashir said: “With the cup final approaching, we thought it would be a great idea to come up with a curry celebrating Sunderland’s success.

“As Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal is a local charity, what better way to mark this historic occasion than by raising money for it?”
