LABOUR was one ward away from completing a clean sweep of Sunderland’s local elections this year.

The party clinched 24 of the 25 wards up for grabs ­­– with only the St Michael’s ward won by the Conservative Party.

UKIP finished second in the voting in 14 of the wards. Here are the results in full:
