A CARE home manager is to pedal from London to Brussels to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.
Ian Clifford, who runs the Hylton View care home, will mark his 60th birthday by setting off on a 230-mile cycle challenge organised by the dementia charity.
“Some of the people in my care have dementia,” he said. “So I have seen the effects of the condition.
“Dementia is such an important issue. Alzheimer’s Society do a fantastic job and I want to support their work.
“If I can generate any interest in the charity or prompt anyone else to help in any way, shape or form, then that would be great.”
Setting off from London on September 5, Ian will cycle through Kent to Dover before joining the ferry to Calais.
He will then pedal through Northern France into Belgium, to finish in Brussels on September 8, in time for the annual beer festival.
Ian hopes to meet his fund-raising target of £1,300 by June.
