A Sunderland businessman has lit up his home in the colour of the French flag to pay tribute to those who died in the Paris terror attacks.

Rob Hutchinson, of Innovation Power Ltd, based in New Silksworth, Sunderland, decided to use his lighting skills to light up his home in the French colours blue, white and red.

Mr Hutchinson, who lives with his wife at The Cedars, Ashbrooke, in Sunderland, used LED lights carefully positioned round his home to create the effect of the French flag.

The father of three boys said he made the tribute himself last Sunday after hearing about the appalling attacks in Paris last Friday.

“I have done architectural lighting for years and have done tons of buildings over the years for different things,” Mr Hutchinson said.
“I have supplied power to people for illuminating things and was the main contractor for the Reading Festival. So this was something I did because I can. I did it in the way a chef grabs a handful of ingredients, I grabbed a handful of lights. They are not technical lights, they are something we would use as side lights. I wanted definite blue, white and red stripes. Friends have seen it and they think it is great. It is there as a tribute.”
